I missed out on the elder flowers around here. I was meaning to try making some cordial but I blinked and they were gone.
I did get some particularly good bits of elder pith from a garden clearance job a few weeks back though.
…that will go into my monstrous collection of likely float making material, and somebody will ponder why I kept rotten sticks when I shuffle off and they have to clear it all. :laughs:
I don't care who your dad is , you're not walking across the river when I'm fishing!

Elder pith is lovely for float making.

There wasnt a single bit of blossom on the hawthorn hedge at the back this year, nor flowers on the elders dotted along the hedges. Hope its not a widespread thing up here or the winter migrants will be having a lean time of it...

Lots of hawthorn berries round here. My Oxeye Daisies are having a second flourish.

I’ve been here before, but when. I made a few back in the day I managed to convince myself that, size for size, it isn’t especially buoyant. So I will give it another go

Something like that. Easy to over-work from memory.

Insects were making the most of the Oxeye Daisies this sunny afternoon.

Late for oxeyes Dave, down here they are seeded and long gone. (Just seen you earlier post, 2nd flush that explains it...)

Yeah, they'd all but died off a couple of weeks ago then this new lot burst into bloom.
