This crawled towards me and up the chair leg at a show today. Not a clue what species it is.

Don’t touch it.

The caterpillar of the Vapourer Moth which has venomous spines on its body that can cause symptoms like swelling, redness, and intense pain if they come into contact with human skin. In some cases, the venom can even cause an allergic reaction.

Thanks chaps. I'm always wary of hairy caterpillars and kept well clear of it!

One I spotted at dusk yesterday when setting up to not catch eels.

I'd put my money on it being a moth.

Possibly a Knot grass moth........after much googling.
