Slightly out of focus, poorly composed and dare I say, slightly over exposed Jason :laughs: but allowing for all that, a great picture of a stunning, rare and difficult to see bird
Got close to one years ago where I grew up but then the rush meadows were turned into a camp site

It IS out of focus, though.

But, as Saint Theresa of Downing Street wouldn't say, a bad pic is better than no pic.

What ever the picture quality to some the fact you saw it with your own eye's close up, priceless.
These know it all RSPCB lot probably have never been as close to a Bittern as most anglers have been, that's my take on most situations while sitting there in a boat quiet and minding your own business.

This is one of the great perks of our chosen sport. Use to see them often when I fished the Thurne, one week when I fished three days back to back, day one, Martham, one Bittern, day two Horsey, a pair of Bittern, day three Hickling another pair.
Funny I remember that, however I am unable to recall what I caught.

Cracking shot that Jason...

This is the best Ive ever managed to get of one. Pretty poor, and dosent do it justice actually seeing one up close (ish) and personal.

It would have been one of two ways Paul............a lump or 3. Or more likely a Thurne blank

Its eyeing up the bait ;-)

We so lucky with our sport/pastime that its allow us to be so close to nature.

I have some amazing sights that will stay with me for every. Some have been captured on camera, other captured by the mind but all priceless.
