Trumpet bum - Bug ID

Wee lad at the fishery mad into fishing and wildlife bugs and all sorts. Came up with a bucket of goodies. Newts dragonfly nymphs, few different types of caddis and one of these things. He calls them trumpet bums. Im oretty sure thats not their real name
what the hell is it ?

Didnt notice but the wee man was trying to feed a massive one by hand

Well weird , spends two years in a pond , then turns into a massive water beetle that can swim and FLY , have seen ones take off out the pond when carp fishing
