Lots of newly fledged sparrows around at the moment. Which is good for the sparrowhawks. I was watching this one perched on my back fence looking around when I heard a small bird cheep. Instantly it flew down to the ground, hopped under a shrub and hopped back out again with breakfast. No wonder it goes quiet when the sprawks are about.

Through an open upstairs window.
A short while ago the female flew through. They must know there are lots of naive young sparrows around my garden!

Nice capture for both of you.
My opinion may offend, but it's only an opinion that may differ to your's.

Have you ever seen one running along the deck through a hedgerow or brambles - they are pretty nifty on their pins when chasing prey!

Aye it had me spotted. I moved to try to get a better angle and off he went. I've not seen one running along the ground before, but I have seen them fly in to a hedge and jump around chasing sparrows.
Another youngster, blackbird by the looks of the remains, bit the dust in the front garden today. Two wings, a leg and a few feathers left behind.
