Re: Spring lamb
Nice pic, dozing in the sunshine while mum stocks up nearby.
They will always thrive if the weather remain constant, its the rapid changes and rain that makes them vulnerable. And of course keeping charlie under control.
Good expample of the longivity of split untreated (chestnut) for fence posts, though the wires could do with some tensioning.

Re: Spring lamb
That's a pic lifted off google,
I always used to make fresh mint sauce for my mam on a sunday with mint fresh from the garden (it actually grew next to the kitchen waste drain), very basic, chopped up with boiling water, vinegar and a pinch of salt and sugar!

Re: Spring lamb
Nice time of year , lambs and dogs need to be careful around now , here if a dog is seen in the field running about where there are sheep it can be shot .

Re: Spring lamb
They'll be warm enough in a couple or three months.

Been to a sheep dog trial on snowy moorland today. No lambs up at 1,000 feet plus yet!

Cheers Kev. The snow really helps show the movement.

Re: Spring lamb
These trails are nothing like what you see on TV.
Some of the sheep know the score - get chased round the field, put in a pen, then let out the gate at the bottom of the field for some scran. So they head straight for the gate no matter what the dog does. Who says sheep are stupid?
These are nursery trials for dogs that haven't done much trialling. Some quite young. One was lolloping around like a silly pup - until it got fed up of being whistled and shouted at and gave up!

Re: Spring lamb
Terrible photo (early morning and didn't want to use the flash).
This was a good few years ago, when the cottage next door was being renovated. Some ewes broke through the back fence and invaded the garden!
(It's mum kept us awake all night making a proper racket - and this was the reason. Found it sheltering from an icy March wind in a rusty old overturned wheelbarrow!

Re: Spring lamb
There's more!
Sheep have a major design flaw. They can roll onto their backs... Then they're immobilised and can expire.
This one was giving its legs an occasional twitch and bleating plaintively - until I approached to turn it over when it thrashed about like a mad thing and managed to get up!
