Letting the Cheviot hoggs out at the Deerplay Hill Trial double gather final after three days of qualifiers with over 60 dogs running each day.

Nice to see that farming is not doing to badly in these difficult times eg; that long row of rusty beaten up old crocks.

The Black Venus Inn in Challacombe North Devon.
Had a short break down there and got chatting to a farmers daughter about sheep (she had successfully hand reared ewe quads this spring) and she told me it was the best place around for a decent meal. Seems it was named after a sheep that couldn't be caught (told her Id have shot the b+gger).

I was trying to catch one and it charged into a straining post and skulled itself.
Another that managed to get its head underneath a hayrack and died there, without a knife Id never have got it out.
