Massive spider

Post by martin godliman »

Ok maybe I should clean up behind my computer screen some time, I noticed some movement and caught glimpse of this beast before it scuttled out of sight, so went in the garden and dug up a worm to drop in it's web to lure it out. I measured that 'f' hole and it's three inches long.......

I used to to feed spiders in my workshop maggots in the past (it's very very long time since I bought maggots). They can always tell a creature from wiggling a bit of grass or something on the web, even if it's an unlikely prey item like a maggot and they get noticeably fatter after each meal, all strictly in the interests of research of course :geek:

Get rid of the beast.
First time bitten by a spider I collapsed, second time raging temperature and hospitalised for over a week.
Im now issued with my own drugs for immediate treatment and kill any spider inside the house or near me when working.

Both spiders that bit me were under 1/2" across so yours might just carry you away to feed its babies inside that nest?

Ive never heard them called Camel spiders, Ive always known them as Scorpion spiders.
When I was in the XXXXXX desert the guys used to fight a scorpion spider against a giant green scorpion which has a huge stinger that will penetrate the sole of an army boot.
A ring in the sand had petrol poured into it, the spider and green scorpion were dropped into the middle and the petrol set alight, the heat forced the two together and they fought to the death, the scorpion spider was always the winner.

Same beast...........some folks call them "Wind Scorpions"

To be really accurate though, they are not a Spider or a Scorpion.
