That's what they're called in the fens, or Old Hansa' for some unknown reason.



Frank is what they seem to shout when they take off if disturbed.

This one got disturbed and flew into my line at 6.30 am,hell of a job to reel him in and untangle him,and yes he let me know his name overe and over,sat there waterlogged and well hacked off for an hour before flying off.

I thought he looked a bit bedraggled. You're a braver man than me. I don't fancy the look of that rapier like bill one bit.

He did have a couple of stabs at me but once I got hold of his neck he was quite well behaved,I was just so relieved when he eventualy flew off.Its getting to be a bit of a habit,in the last two years ive had to deal with a grebe 2 terns and 3 cormmorants,might have to start carrying a glove as I had an owl fly past realy close the other night,that gave me a fright.
