White ermine moth?

Post by davelumb »

Saw this little beauty fly across the lane and managed to grab a dodgy snap of it when it landed.

Those Moths appeared around my local Venue about 3 years ago. Thousands of them create Webs in the trees and the caterpillars get into everything.

Can't remember when i see one of those last.
Definitely a big decline in moths and butterflies these days, very noticeable.

You may well class it as dodgy Dave, however I quite like the photo. :camera:

Last couple of weeks our hedgerows around me are turning into a hammer house of horrors set.
Certainly a bumper year.

Thousands of them Dave.
They are almost on every hedge around here. Some that started earlier cover and have stripped 60 foot of hedge.

They are I think Ermine Moth Caterpillars. Not sure if there the same as the one you spotted or are spindle ermine,
Either way will certainly help the Bat population once they emerge
