Quick test with a new macro set-up I’m trying.
Still got a decent flash and diffuser to source, hence the highlights.
But pleased with details.

Very good, I would certainly be happy with that.
Ive worked with the scientists from the JNCC on protected species and they regularly took photographs in the field. The gear they used was amazing to me as an amateur, ring flash, folding windbreaks and special techniques to keep the little blighters still.

Re: Macro test.
Thanks Mike,
Yeah it can be tricky, I’ve not done much photography for a few years, But I’ve really missed doing macros.
Hopefully won’t take me long to get up to scratch.
I’m going to have to give up the caffeine though,

Re: Macro test.
Yes Dave, I’ve switched to micro 4/3.
Olympus em1 mkii and a 60mm f2.8.
It’s tiny compared to my old setup, and because of the 2x crop you get more dof, Also has in camera focus stacking, which combines up to 15 shots to give even more dof.
Lots of learning to do, But should be fun.

I'v'e done focus stacking on the PC, but in-camera is the way to go.
