New theme and mobiles

Post by Andrew »

Seen some of you were a bit confused about the look of the pit on your phones. Dont panic the look of the website hasnt changed.

am I right in thinking some of you never knew about the old mobile theme ? we had the feature since 2015
(here: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21187&p=312342)

You had to enable it yourself via the user control panel so that would explain why some of you were a bit confused with what they were seeing if you hadnt tried this forum feature.

the old mobile theme would detect small screens and mobile devices like smasung S range, Iphone, etc. but would not show the mobile theme for larger screens such as pc's, laptops, iphones, iphone sized tablets.

when I coded the upgraded version of the mobile detector I wasnt sure how to add in the option to enable/disable through the user control panel (a lots changed in the coding of the forum still sussing it out) So i made it auto until I can code the solution, my appologies.

Rosco's come up with a way to get the old style theme back on your small devices by changing a setting on your phones browser, damn ludites :giggle:

On my Samsung s7 it's in 'more' (top right hand corner next to Web address) then select 'request pc version'

Mine is already on pc version, hence the request mobile version option.....
Thanks Rosco

Carl, open up safari,at the bottom of the page in the middle is a box with an up arrow in it,click on that, you'll see 2 lines of icons,go onto the black and white bottom row, scroll across to the one that says 'request desk tip site' that should put you right

Its very useful on small screens especially mines. The full site is just torture on my tiny screen. Im actually surprised people dont like it. Theres less clutter and easier to use.

Looks good to me Andrew. One small usability gripe... the board index is higher up meaning you have to scroll up more than previously when redirecting to another board. Minor point - no sleep loss though. :worthy:

Clicking the home symbol on the bottom LHS of the page also takes you to the board index
