Ages [slow forum connection]

Post by Bob Watson »

For pages to load.

Not my ISP because every other site I visit is fast as fook as per usual.

The pit is taking an age to load after navigating from page to page.

Me to.

Also noticed its increasingly power hungry compared to other sites, only the tabloid newspapers are worse.

Not a nerd but maybe something running in the background?

think ive got to the bottom of it.

There where 30'odd bots reading a lot of pages causing server to be put under a bit of a strain. hopefuly it should even out a bit now they have been blocked.

I got all the bots. its improved a fair bit for myself. 46 real people online right now though, which might have something to do with it 🤔 but its been fine for me since i got the bots sorted out

The bots were just search engine bots indexing pages. But they were s***e and lots from the same company demanding too many resources for its 30 feckin bots.

I'll continue to investigate

Good Man Andrew. Keep killing all the Bots' you come across......suggest a regular "culling" whenever you can spare a little time.

Well whether they are dead or not, I am still having issues Andrew, is anyone else still having to wait ages for pages to load, or is it just me ?

In all fairness Andrew it is intermittent and not every time I try to change or load a page, but when it does, it is taking about ten seconds to load  .

It looks like it correlates to the number of people online. Struggles a bit with 40-50

Not much i can do immediately with it im afraid.

Is anyone else still having problems with pages loading slowly ?
I am and it is doing my head in, Is it likely to be something at my end Andrew ? Any advice would be gratefully received.
It is only on the Pit I am having the problem BTW.
