Forum Sponsors

Post by John G »

On a few non fishing forums I frequent, The owners have set up a paypal account for donations to help the running costs. It only takes a quid or so each & the forum stays prosperous. In return the donators get "Forum Sponsor" added to their profile.

Just another idea.

There is a donation feature available on the forum, I didn't turn it on because I didn't want to come across in the wrong way

I'm not sure its classed as Bandwidth, I think they count the number of threads and posts.

Without checking I'm not 100% sure but I recall that when I joined there was some information about it and I think the numbers were into Millions.

Have seen it on some non fishin forums too john, the way one of them went was that the people who could'nt/would'nt subscribe and get a "Forum Sponsor" on their Avatar felt a wee bitty left out, and the "sponsors" got to look down on the non payers...also, the sponsors got their own chat room, further distancing themselves from the general membership.

I'm afraid I dont go along with the sponsored member bit, tho I would prolly buy T's or fleeces etc. Image
