Re: Self cocking planer float
any chance of a bit more detailed step by step instructional post and some close up photos? would be just the job for float trolling on the kayak....
If it swims I want to catch it!

Re: Self cocking planer float
Bike spoke & nipple
Swivel
Tubing,shrink tube or similar
Aluminium plate
Shitty cheap bobbin
Polyball
Basically put swivel down spoke to the bent riveted end,add tubing to keep in place, measure where vane & polyball will sit, bend crank into spoke, drill plate top & bottom & side,2mm is fine, put spoke through bottom hole then bend through top hole & bend in another crank to hold in place, drill out polyball or just push hot needle through, push on so it goes down onto top of vane, screw on nipple.paint & glue or whatever.
The shitty bobbin basically goes through the other hole causing an offset, the float will then sail away from you as you pay line then pull tight,if you want it to go the other way, just reverse bobbin, when you get a take or simply want to retrieve simply strike out of bobbin & float becomes normal sliding waggler.
