Axes.
Old rusty heads rejuvenated with a keen edge and a new handle. Found an old dead ash tree and made my own handles. Turning into an obsession! 4 more heads waiting for handles.

Re: Axes.
From a log of some sort. We have loads of sliced logs for fire wood.
Going to stain it indian rose wood then sit and wax it all day tomorrow. Wish the end was thicker though (slight miscalculation with the other axe ) its growing on me though.

Re: Axes.
The proper term is 'hanging an axe' when you put on a new handle.....I only know because I replaced a head on it's existing handle with a new wedge for friend......just to make sure how I checked it out on youtube....there's whole world of it out there if it floats your boat
Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

Some nice stuff going on. A 3lb head on an ash pole. "Seasoned" the log in the oven to speed it up prior to carving the handle.

Re: Axes.
Some lovely handiwork on here
I was always told never to use steel wedges in an axe or hammer shaft.
The reason given was that when the head was soaked in a bucket of water overnight to tighten it up the steel would rust and eventually cause the wood to decay.
