Self-locking float attachment

Post by davelumb »

I like simple. Fiddly to make but definitely simple. The hardest parts are finding suitable diameter tube and heating it to put the curve in. Flaring the ends over with a ciggy lighter is easy. There's no need for the clip to be centralised or fixed.

Replace the wire contraption by sliding a John Roberts link ledger bead and clip onto the rig tube before heating and bending it. :pipe:

With those clips you can open them up and clip the round bit round the tube if it's the right diameter. No need for the bead.

But they're prone to falling off and getting lost when you open them up to attach a float.

On mine Dave, the bead is tight on the tube and doesn't move. The end result is more like a bead with long bandy legs, rather than a tube with a bead, if you get what I mean. ( :dizzy: ).

(Nothing to fall off, or get lost).

Did you make that during a power cut and no lights?

Not tried those. But I don't like slim pencil floats.
