Cafetiere

Post by Bob Watson »

A decent one that doesn't let the grounds get up into the coffee after the plunger is pressed.

Any recommendations?

Hi Bob
The Bodum Cafetiere is probably the best available.
The problem of grouts in the coffee is usually caused by the size of the ground coffee being used so try and ensure you buy a pack that states for cafetiere and not for expresso coffee makers.

Cafetiere is a french design, Ive used them in private homes in France and there were less grouts in the cup than other countries, but some also used filter papers soaking the coffee in a dribble of hot water for a min. before filling it up.

As a lifelong drinker of ground coffee Ive tried almost every method known to man and Ive always used a Bailetti (the inventor of the pot) and have done since the '80's. Highly recommended.

Grouts - Bailetti Kitty, Lavazza Creme Gusto Classico - 1.5 imperial coffee measure. First mug of the day.
