Re: Any thoughts?
f*****g ridiculous to take 7 shots to kill an animal. When I worked in Zambia and we had any animal problems we had a contract hunter (he was in fact from Scotland) come out and put them down with a Magnum round from his rifle, only ever took one shot, even with a massive water buffalo which had been wounded by poachers and was on the verge of attacking our personnel.

always controversial shall we hunt them or not.
properly organised and selective hunting benefits everyone including the animals (as a whole)---the alternative is they get poached and wiped out. Controlled hunting keeps a healthy consistent population, feeds the locals, provides work keeps poaching to a minimum.
but there are countries where the hunting is corrupt, or rather the govt of those countries are corrupt and give licences out to whoever has the readies----or take a cut from the poachers.
most of the poached stuff ends up in the far east---a lot of ivory goes to japan where the make stupid little sticks out of them about 3 inches long by 1/2 in square that are used to stamp initials or something on letters etc---just once then thrown away.

Re: Any thoughts?
I believe that a controlled hunt as this depicts can be a good way to manage wildlife, even elephants, watching the villagers take meat was great
I did find it sad to watch the animal kicking on its side and as for 7 bullets, really
If what they are doing is protecting the elephants and their numbers are rising, then great, just learn to use less bullets
