Re: Tench Season 2019
Got the bbq ready the other week and started getting me particles sorted for the tench fishing........................and then the weather changed back to normal, water temps still at 44f,so might not be to long................p****d of with the piking,Been 3 or 4 times a week since sep/oct had about 30 doubles to 15lb which I am quite happy about ,not used a treble with I am really happy about,Back in the day if you heard of a 30 your ears pricked up,10years ago if you heard of a 20 your ears pricked up ,now if you hear of a 17 or 18 lber you get excited,(Remember I am talking about normal fishing, not on the ressies)

Back in the day up here you're ears would prick up at a 15 pounder and twenties were a dream.
Nowadays a 20 is on the cards and it's a thirty which makes your ears prick up.
It really was grim up north!
I bet you put eight pound tench back without a photograph too.

I acquired a lovely cane Tench rod made by Robinson’s fishing tackle
This is to go with a centre pin reel they made back in the day
I can’t wait to re introduce them to each other .
If you fancy a days Tench fishing ,let me know Del

I'm currently thinking about having an early season trip to the Fens for a spot of Tench fishing with my little lad.

It stank to high heaven and if I was knocking groundbait up on a Sunday morning after a heavy session on a Saturday, I'd be baulking my guts inside out, it did seem to pull the bream and tench in though!
Never seen it for years????

Re: Tench Season 2019
It was my first day tenching this year, a cool easterly wind seemed to put them down and I had a day of contemplation instead.
Still it gave me chance to get my act together and iron out my rusty methods and casting abilities.
I remember the old liquid worm mix that was available and it stunk, also it was a bugger to get off your clothes and hands afterwards... but still its probably worth a try.

I won’t be out again until after Easter Sunday. Good luck Jason, think a softly softly approach is the way with this cooler weather. Maybe even just single bookies or bags at showing fish. Let us know how it goes

That wind is bitter! Not a lot of good for fishing, or sitting outside
