Off the shelf pork pie...
...Jones for me
£1.80 from Tesco, cut into 8 on a plate with colmans, branston, silverskins, cheddar, roquefort and biscuits.
And a nice malt, just the thing to ease me into my holidays, a text off my boss saying no need to go in tomorrow, with pay

My favourite is from Tesco Deli. Walkers fluted pork pie. Wonderful with Garlic Pickle available from National Trust shops.

Re: Off the shelf pork pie...
Never been a big fan of pork pies. For some strange reason I do buy one of those mini ones occasionally if I go to a shop or garage for my doccy at work, but I tear all of the pastry off and bin it. Which leaves me with a conker sized piece of liquidized hoof n toof covered in jelly which, rather bizarrely, I quite enjoy .
I don't care who your dad is , you're not walking across the river when I'm fishing!
Re: Off the shelf pork pie...
Most of these off the shelf porkpies are s**t, no seasoning in case someone objects or is offended and just plain meat mush

Re: Off the shelf pork pie...
I agree with Kev, I'm sick of tasteless pork pies with insipid pastry and no jelly. Can anyone recommend a proper large, and really tasty pork pie?
Who were the famous Northampton pie makers. No longer in business who produced super pork pies and fabulous Xmas game pies. Surely some ex employees
went in to business for themselves. Help me out please I'm dying for a proper tasty pie.

I'm not a jazz fan, but some of it is listenable. The other stuff I think people pretend to like to make them feel intellectual!

Even Mingus had his limits, I was amused to just read, that while on stage with Charlie Parker (only a week before Parker's drug-related death), Mingus was so appalled by the performance that he took the mic and announced "Ladies and Gentlemen, please don't associate me with any of this. This is not jazz. These are sick people."
(Crikey, they must have been bad! ).

Dickinson & Morris pork pies made in Melton Mowbray are superb. Got one for tomorrow's piking. Yummy.

Whenever I drive up the M6 I see “who ate all the pies” painted in big white letters on a bridge, it’s a bridge what more do you want. Come on own up you pie eating northerners.

Off the shelf....Melton Mowbray pork and pickle.
Best.....Toppings of Doncaster.
Prince Charles tried to buy Toppings for his Duchee of Cornwall brand. Toppings also make for Harvey Nick's.
There steak pies are pretty good also but the game pies are rather extravagant at about 3 quid a slice.
