Lures rods for bait fishing

Post by Admau1 »

Hi all , does anyone use lure rods for short range baitfishing ? For example, 8'-9' rods with 100gm + casting weight ?
Would they be suitable for waters such as drains, canals,or even boat fishing ? Using small dead or live baits ?
I assume that once the fish is hooked ,it is no different to having hooked it with a lure ??
I would appreciate your opinions please !!.

I use an 8ft 40-80g lure rod for ledger or drift bait fishing when I’m on the river. Does the job perfectly

salmon anglers use spinning rods on occasion for worm and prawn tatics, with no problem,so small deadbaits should be ok,Ecky

I often use lure rods for deadbaiting.
I have a four piece 20-80g lure rod which I use when cycling to my swim.
And a couple.of 9fters which serve both purposes.

I user a 10ft 20-60g Fox spinning rod for roving with both lures and deadbaits etc had no issues after over 10yrs of use. I have used shorter rods but lack of length has been an issue on some waters due to bank side tree et

Caught my PB bait fishing with a Brundal Angling RT4. Also used it in tight swims for Barbel and a bit of carp stalking.

I've regularly used two 7ft 10-30g lure rods to fish small deadbaits (Bleak) under small floats on the canals for Zander.

The kids especially find them easier to handle.
