Anyone know what this plant is? if they are the same plant even.

Most likely it's an Arrowhead - Sagittaria - possibly S.Japonica - you will get a better idea of which particular type when it flowers around July - just do a google search in "google images" and compare.

Edit. From Google I see the leaves haven't taken on the arrowhead shape yet. That's why it stumped me.

Have a bash at the 'Plantsnap' app for your phone, you take a picture of the plant or flower and it ids it for you. It's usually pretty accurate.

I don't know what they're called, but I know if you ever spot them growing over 'cabbages' there will almost certainly be a pike lurking under them!
