Most likely it's an Arrowhead - Sagittaria - possibly S.Japonica - you will get a better idea of which particular type when it flowers around July - just do a google search in "google images" and compare.

Cheers.I'll keep a lookout for it flowering.

Edit. From Google I see the leaves haven't taken on the arrowhead shape yet. That's why it stumped me.

Have a bash at the 'Plantsnap' app for your phone, you take a picture of the plant or flower and it ids it for you. It's usually pretty accurate.

I’d be very surprised if Dave owns a mobile phone that’s capable of installing an app!!

I would, but I do my best to only use my phone for phone calls. I even try not to text. While I embrace most modern technology I have an irrational hatred of smartphones. If it wasn't useful for emergencies (like when my broadband died) I'd take great pleasure in smashing it to pieces with a hammer - like a woman in the village did hers because of 'the waves' it gives out! :dizzy:

Not that I'm suggesting we are inbred banjo players in my village. :laughs:

Bl00dy hell they think of everything, and to think of all those hours spent keying down, to say nothing of the money spent on Keeble Martin, Francis Rose et al, nor the NVC.

I don't know what they're called, but I know if you ever spot them growing over 'cabbages' there will almost certainly be a pike lurking under them!
