I wasn't sure how the nest boxes would do with putting two up quite close together, but both have been nested in. The one I can see clearly from the house has seen loads of activity the last coupel of days with the adult's hesitating to go in. I wondered if that was because there were chicks in the way. I think I might have been right because this morning I saw a little head poking out of the hole!

So I got my camera. Big as I can't get any closer, but they're OK for web viewing.

Nice to see your own builds occupied.

Best Al can do here is to notice my regular rowdy Goldfinch gang now have an occasional fledgling sitting on the feeder arms with them. Small, drab, with no red faces or black caps, being fed the odd kernel from an adult bird.

Ta. Been watching, videoing and photographing some more. I don't know if there are any more chicks but this one hasn't moved from the hole all morning. It'll be too fat to get through it at this rate!

Just seen one of the adults feeding two little ones by my feeder.

I was too slow to get any pics before the sparrows scared them off. But here's one I took earlier at the nest box.

It's all go!

I think I might have been mistaken. There is still at least one chick in this box. Maybe the other box's brood is the one that's fledged.

Hardly surprising. It had been flying back and forth then sticking it's head in its offspring's gob from dawn to dusk !

It's a busy time for them. And they might have another brood too.

I know everyone is washing their hands more now anyway, but definitely do it when handling bird feeders.

There is a pneumonia type disease, affecting blue t*ts in particular, that has killed 11,000 birds in Germany this spring and they carry diseases communicable to humans too.
