Re: HOW MUCH,
i prefer haddock to cod but the price is the same, large + small chips and small mushy £10.25. I don't mind the price as long as its genuine cod and haddock and not pollack or ling, both of which the previous owner had tried to pass of to me.
Just down the road I can get a decent chicken curry plus rice for less.

Re: HOW MUCH,
Don’t forget the lashing of Mayonnaise!
Never understand the want for the sauce.
The main reason your drawn to a random purchase is the smell wafting up the street. Then drown it in curry or mayonnaise/tomato sauce
Ours is £12:50. In the village.
But if sooner pay that than £20 in the pub with over cooked chips x3 served in a bin or mini fryer
Looking at the returns on this post the price is high as it’s only us in the south east.
The rest must be on mouldy barn sorry Barm cakes I have a darn sarf keyboard or haggis!

My local chippy only does 'fish' and chips. No species specified but plaice is available. Under a tenner with chips and a pot of mushy peas.
I can remember a bag of chips being 1/-. That's one shilling for the youngsters!

Ketchup or Mayonaisse?
Personally I think that’s a “class” issue

13 quid Large Cod and Chips, no curry sauce. Pickled onion or a wally is allowed though.
Someone mentioned gravy, one of the best things about away days with football way back used to be a sausage dinner from a Northern Chipper.

Re: HOW MUCH,
Medium cod and chips around £11 here in Newmarket, but the chippy is as good as any seaside shop! Just about the best I’ve had anywhere in the country for me, and I consider myself a connoisseur. It’s owned and run by Nick Pope’s cousin.
No takeaway beats good old fish n chips for me. Salt, vinegar and a dollop of tommy ketchup, a couple of rounds of bread and butter and an ice cold can of coke. Beautiful!

Ps first bag of chips I ever bought was 5p. Within 12 months they had shot up to 25p!! (Anyone remember the potato shortage around the mid seventies?)
