Fixed spool and rod set up

Post by Ricki »

Forgive if this has already been asked for before. My 6yr old son is mad to get into the lure fishing/jerk bait scene and he struggles with using my multiplier/rod set up. And I don't have the patience anymore to tease out bird nests. I was wondering would anyone be able to advise on a good spinning rod and reel setup that would suffice. I'm thinking about something around 6ft. We will be chuckinging light to medium jerk baits. Thank you all in advance..

In the absence of any other suggestions if he is OK with your setup except for the baitcaster perhaps the same rod but with a suitable sized light fs reel?
Don't know if there's an Angling Direct near you but worth a look to see what deals they've got & to be able to give the rod & reel a waggle in the shop.

Wouldnt start with them fishing jerks baits. Cheap rubbers and shallow running lures. Not heavy or hard work for little uns to fish and cheaper when they lose them!
