Due to health issues i have to be careful what i eat but break ranks on my Birthday.
Rather than being taken out for a meal i have 2 Cornish Pasties and a tin of beans as a throw back to childhood.
Imagine my horror when i discovered that the crocodile pasties of my youth were not Cornish as the latter has to be D shaped with the crimping on the curved edge.
Crocodile pasties are folded to the centre and crimped in the middle.
Research reveals that it might have been Devon that invented the pasty.
I'm troubled ..........

Typical!
Something that has been a standard for years gets redesigned by some shyster just so they can change the name to make money.
Still remember eating proper pasties, not the junk sold these days in upcountry bakeries.

Re: Cornish Pasty
I remember reading that these pasties were made like this so miners could hold a bit of the thick crust and eat the rest, and just throw away the dirty bit they'd been holding. Also why traditionally it would be meat and 2 veg inside, representing a full meal in one handy, tasty package.
