And here is the ‘Fire Fish’. It’s going to a collector in USA for $100.
It’s a very unusual lure, more for decoration than practical

Jon,

Many thanks it arrived in work a short time ago. Something to put a smile on my face as we implode yet again in the cricket.

£10 - £15 Jon. Being rubber, they have a tendency to shrink and crack, but yours looks OK - apart from the usual slightly 'receding' dorsal (not a major issue).

The lure is a 'Plucky', but I notice the paperwork is for the 'Spicky'. Is there anything on the other side of the leaflet?

No John, it’s blank.
I’d be happy with £10 if anyone wants it.

I've already got a bunch of boxed Pluckys Jon, but I'd be interested in that random 'Spicky' leaflet to pair up with one I've got.

Brilliant Jon, that's extremely kind of you!

I took out a second mortgage and bought a book of stamps the other day. I'll send you a stamped addressed envelope (got your address from an old PM).

Here's some Plucky stuff I downloaded which might be of interest.

I've rounded up my Magnum Hellcats from various boxes and drawers. Apart from a handful in my 'working' lure box I think that's it. I had a half a dozen, then lost one so started looking to try to replace it. I guess I got caught up in it.

I retired it about 5 years ago, and glad I did as the one I lost was its replacement. You caught your first lure double on it back in the day. I have an equally chewed up handful in my lure box. I plan to make a wall mounted glass fronted cabinet for this lot. I picked up most of these off Striped Bass forums in the US, and a few from lads on here.

I bought some of those as swaps. I have no idea what colours were available and every now and then a formerly unknown surprise pops up. The orange back/gold chrome, the pearl white, and the lemon back/pearl flank/orange belly came up on US eBay and I'd never seen any of those colours before. I got the black back/red-yellow-black spotted job off Spike on here. I've had a few US collectors trying to pry it from me, but it's going nowhere fast. I wish I could get an overview of the colours made, but I'm guessing they just ran batches of whatever colours key customers asked for?

Hopefully - I have the blessing of 'her indoors' so it'll probably happen next time we have a harsh winter and I'm left wondering what to do with myself.

I did have a Whopper Stopper catalogue. I'll have to see if I still have it hiding away somewhere.

That sounds interesting... maybe there's a list of standard colours or even a piccy. I found an image online showing the different sizes available, and I have some of the smaller ones too, but I've never managed to track down any knowledge of colours.

I'll probably get a few custom colours done on some of duplicates. Mark's classic perch pattern would be a good start, one in white belly and one in orange. I've never seen a perch Hellcat.

I did a few for one of Gord`s mates in perch pattern a while back, would look better with the scale effect sanded down on the flanks prior to spraying imo
