12v electric boat winch

Post by chrisdonna » Mon Sep 09 2019 09:35

Only used once and has a 6000 pound pulling rating. Don`t want any money, if you can come to South Wales you can have it for nothing.
It has a wired remote and I want to upgrade to a wireless remote.

You can convert them into a remote handset Chris upto about 15m radius.
You just need a 12v wireless remote control and a 12v reversing solenoid

If your still up for letting in go give me a shout. I am working in Cwmbran sometime next week, I should be able to collect it.
Be careful if you try a after sale fit of a remote, we tried one and it burnt out some of the winch wiring. Hence I am interested in yours!

How
In the winch itself or the wiring to the receiver and solenoid

No worries Chris
Andy, I'd still be interested to know what/how the wiring burnt as I have converted mine
I was out sea fishing last week and the boat retrieving before me was a warrior, he had just taken the manual winch handle off and used a decent cordless drill and socket fitting, made easy work to it too

Lucy,
That`s a good idea using the drill.
Never thought of that.

Surprised to hear that a cordless drill would have the ummmphh to do the business TBH, I expect you are maybe referring to a quality 24v job Lucy ?
Very good idea, and you can stick it away in the van as well so, less chance of it getting nicked than a winch left on the trailer  .

Will.

Yeah it surprised me too. I've no knowledge about power tools so can't say what size. The trailer was a genuine rollercoaster though but a warrior with a 60hp 4 stroke won't be light

The bit that burnt out was what looked like to me a relay of some sort. Buggered up a Warrior winch big style.

Sorry to hijack your post guys but I was thinking of doing this.
Just need to sort out what size of winch to get

I have seen a few winches fixed on trailers but forgot to get the sizes some have different fittings as hear

They have all kept the original hand winch

When I had no four wheel drive I had the orange winch on the second pic Grant, launched and retrieved my boat no problems from the slip you use at the bottom of the big lake
